説明
This checklist dataset encompasses Arachnofauna species observed during the 'objective 1000' project, in which the entomofauna of the Jean Massart Botanical Garden was studied. First entomological prospectings started in 2013-2014 led by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). The richness of the species led to a collective enthusiasm that allowed the implementation of the 'objective 1000' project with the collaboration of Brussels Environment (2015-2021).
Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any question or remark regarding the objective 1000 project or this dataset content.

収集方法
Sampling was carried out in the different biotopes present in the Jean Massart garden, using many common capture techniques for entomofauna surveys : sight collection, sweeping, beating, multiple trapping (pitfall, passive, or baited trap), soil or leaf litter sieving, thermal vacuum collection, leaf vacuum collection, ...etc. See Henrard et al., 2022 for a detailled description.
Study Extent | 'The objective 1000' is a continuous site inventory (Jardin Jean Massart, Auderghem -Belgium) that started officially in 2015, extending preliminary sampling efforts dating back to 2013. The Jean Massart garden covers 5.2 hectares, and covers a wide variety of biotopes (wet zone with ponds, arboretum, evolutionary garden, etc.). The project was held until 2021 and overcame the initial target ( observing at least 1000 species of entomofauna within the garden). |
---|---|
Quality Control | Samples were sorted and identified by arachnids experts, using stereomicroscopes. Most of the samples were mainly deposited in the collections of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). |
Method step description:
- Multiple sampling events on the site along the project duration
- Sorting and identification of the samples
- Digitalization of species records and storage of specimen inthe RBINS collections
- Listing of arachnofauna species encountered and review by experts
- Export, formatting to DarwinCore & GBIF publication.
